Det er tid til en ny EP fra den danske duo HOEG & NILSSON.
"Once in a Great While" er titlen på EPén, der indeholder fire nye sange, skrevet og indspillet af de to musikalske venner Henning Hoeg og Robert Nilsson, og på "Once in a Great While" er der flere godbidder at vælge imellem.
EP'en åbner med tracket "Hands of Time", en uimodståelig popsang, der i al sin enkelhed beder om det umulige: at fryse øjeblikket og stoppe tiden.
Omkvædet lyder:
"If I could stop the hands of time
And save the love that I've been given
I'd keep it deep inside my heart
And never let it go"
"Vi kender alle følelsen," siger Henning Hoeg, der som sædvanlig synger både harmoni og lead vocals. "Mens vi prøver at sove, tænker vi på den dejlige dag, vi har haft. Og pludselig rammer det os, 'hvad hvis det hele pludselig forsvandt'."
I den situation kan du vælge at ligge vågen og bekymre dig, eller du kan gøre som HOEG & NILSSON: skrive en sang om det og få det ud af dit system.
"Knock Three Times", som følger "Hands of Time", er en smittende 70'er pop-country sang om venskab, med et strejf af både James Taylor og Albert Hammond.
"In a Million Years" er en tidløs power-ballade om at genforenes med gamle venner og finde nyt livsmod - selvom tiden altid tikker.
Den nye EP slutter med titelsangen "Once in a Great While", der varer lidt over to minutter.
"Hvis sangen er god, og budskabet er klart, kan du gøre det kort og direkte" siger Robert Nilsson, der som sædvanlig har tryllet med sine mange instrumenter i hjemmestudiet i Helsingør.
På den anden side af Atlanterhavet, i byen Rochester, i den amerikanske stat Michigan, har Henning Hoeg gjort sit arbejde og indspillet vokalerne. Og endelig tilbage i Hamlets hjemby har Robert sat de sidste touch på arbejdet og endnu engang skabt den velproducerede lyd, der har karakteriseret duoén HOEG & NILSSON siden starten i 2022.
Siden de to musikalske venner startede deres transatlantiske samarbejde (mellem USA og Danmark), har sangene næsten stået i kø for at komme ud - kreativiteten blomstrer. Både DR's P5 og en række radiostationer over hele verden har spillet HOEG & NILSSON's sange.

The EP opens with the track "Hands of Time," an irresistible pop song that simply asks for the impossible: to freeze the moment and stop time.
The chorus goes:
"If I could stop the hands of time

I'd keep it deep inside my heart
And never let it go"
"We all know the feeling," says Henning Hoeg, who as usual sings both harmony and lead vocals. "While we try to sleep, we think about the lovely day we've had. And suddenly it hits us, 'what if it all suddenly disappeared.'" In that situation, you can choose to lie awake and worry, or you can do like HOEG & NILSSON: write a song about it and get it out of your system.
"Knock Three Times," which follows "Hands of Time," is a catchy 70s pop-country song about friendship, with a touch of both James Taylor and Albert Hammond.
"In a Million Years" is a timeless power ballad about reuniting with old friends and finding new courage - even though time always ticks.
The new EP ends with the title track "Once in a Great While," which lasts just over two minutes. "If the song is good, and the message is clear, you can make it short and get to the point," says Robert Nilsson, who as usual has worked his magic with his many instruments in the home studio in Elsinore.
On the other side of the Atlantic, in the city of Rochester, in the US state of Michigan, Henning Hoeg has done his job and recorded the vocals. And finally back in Hamlet's hometown, Robert has put the finishing touches on the work and once again created the well-produced sound that has characterized the HOEG & NILSSON duo since their inception in 2022.
