|
A powerful fusion of Scandinavian groove and Japanese guitar virtuosity.
Nilsson Lek Blues Project proudly announces the release of their brand-new instrumental blues single, “Midnight Serenade” — a deeply atmospheric and emotionally charged track that showcases the unique musical chemistry between Danish bassist, composer, and producer Robert Nilsson and Japanese blues guitar virtuoso Kei Lek. Blending deep blues traditions with modern sonic textures, “Midnight Serenade” delivers a cinematic journey through smoky late-night moods, soaring guitar melodies, and dynamic improvisation. |
The single captures the essence of what Nilsson Lek Blues Project represents: blues music that feels alive, fearless, and unconstrained by borders or genres.
The collaboration between Nilsson and Lek grew from a shared passion for the emotional core of blues music: storytelling without words, spontaneous improvisation, and genuine musical connection.
On “Midnight Serenade,” the duo transforms these elements into a modern instrumental blues experience where Scandinavian groove meets Japanese guitar fire.
With its powerful interplay, atmospheric production, and emotionally driven musicianship, “Midnight Serenade” marks an exciting new beginning for Nilsson Lek Blues Project and offers listeners a fresh and contemporary take on instrumental blues music.
“Midnight Serenade” is available on major streaming platforms from June 5th 2026.

Nilsson Lek Blues Project – When Danish Groove Meets Japanese Guitar Virtuosity
Nilsson Lek Blues Project is a new and explosive collaboration between Danish bass player, composer, and producer Robert Nilsson and Japanese guitar virtuoso Kei Lek. The project unites deep blues roots with international virtuosity, creating a musical expression that is raw, dynamic, modern, and emotionally powerful.
Robert Nilsson is known for his emotive, groove-driven sound, he bridges jazz sensibilities with ambient and electronic textures, creating music praised for its warmth, clarity, and attention to sonic detail. With decades of experience as a bassist, composer, and producer, Robert Nilsson has made a significant contribution to the Danish music scene and beyond. His extensive catalog spans multiple genres, including Country, Blues, Rock, Pop, Dance, and New Age music, reflecting both his musical versatility and his deep respect for tradition combined with a contemporary artistic vision.
Kei Lek is an exceptionally gifted and expressive Japanese blues guitarist who has been performing and recording music professionally for more than 25 years. He discovered his passion for blues at the age of 10, when he began playing guitar under the guidance of his father and brother. Soon after, he became deeply inspired by The Beatles and Chuck Berry, developing an early obsession with rock and roll guitar. At the age of 12, he discovered Stevie Ray Vaughan and began an intense study of blues guitar that would shape his signature sound.
At 16, Kei Lek formed his band Weather King and started performing live. Over the following two decades, he established himself internationally through his electrifying stage presence, expressive playing style, and near-virtuosic technical control. He has performed at Hakata Dontaku — one of Japan’s four major festivals — as well as numerous large-scale events, helping to spread and celebrate blues music throughout Japan.
The collaboration behind Nilsson Lek Blues Project grew out of a shared passion for the very core of the blues: storytelling, improvisation, emotion, and musical connection — while also embracing new creative horizons. The result is music where heavy grooves, expressive guitar lines, and powerful musical interplay create a sound that transcends both genres and borders.
Nilsson Lek Blues Project represents a meeting of two musical worlds and cultures, united by one shared vision: to create blues music that feels alive, relevant, and uncompromising.
